David Paterson

Professor David Paterson was a researcher with the APPRISE Centre of Research Excellence that ended in December 2022.
Professor Paterson is CEO of Wesley Medical Research and Professor of Infectious Diseases at the University of Queensland (as of May 2023).
Professor Paterson grew up in Brisbane and then then worked for a decade in the United States and Italy before returning to Australia in 2007. His twin passions are killing bacteria and caring for patients with bacterial infections. He has contributed to guidelines for antibiotic use for the Infectious Diseases Society of America and he has lectured in 30 countries worldwide on the topic of bacterial resistance to antibiotics.
