David Barras
Profile
David Barras is a senior public sector leader with a strong track record in First Nations engagement, policy development, and Environmental Biosecurity. An Assistant Director at the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, he leads strategic initiatives that embed Indigenous perspectives and inclusive one health outcomes in national environmental biosecurity programs.
David is a proud Malgana and Yinggarda man from Northwest of Western Australia. David brings extensive experience fostering genuine partnerships with First Nations communities, co-designing inclusive policies, and driving outcomes that reflect cultural knowledge and environmental stewardship. He has a Master of Business Administration through Edith Cowan University.
David is a member of the FIrst Nations Pandemic Research PreparednesS NeTwork (FIRST) Governance Group.
