Karin Leder

Professor Karin Leder is an Infectious Disease physician, Head of Travel Medicine and Immigrant Health at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, and Head of Infectious Diseases Epidemiology within the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University. She is a collaborator on a project in the clinical and infection prevention pillar of APPRISE.

Professor Leder’s specific areas of interest include travellers’ health, health issues in immigrants and refugees, waterborne infections, and health impacts of community level water-sanitation interventions.

Professor Leder has a leadership role for GeoSentinel, a global surveillance network for illnesses crossing international borders. She also leads the research program of a large randomised controlled intervention trial, the RISE project, which is being conducted in slum communities of Indonesia and Fiji.
