Mapping future impacts and outcomes: APPRISE Theory of Change

September 11, 2019

What is a Theory of Change?

A Theory of Change is a diagrammatic representation of how and why a program will lead to expected outcomes. The Theory of Change outlines the expected impact of a program, the long-term outcomes, and the causal pathway to achieving those outcomes.

Why did APPRISE use a Theory of Change process?

The Theory of Change will inform the implementation of the remaining two years of APPRISE, as well a guide our direction beyond the funded period. The Theory of Change process was undertaken through a series of meetings with the APPRISE Executive, a workshop during the APPRISE Annual Meeting on 9 May 2019, and individual meetings with the APPRISE team members. This document details the outcome from this process.
