Four cross-cutting themes provide critical infrastructure and tools to support the four broad research areas.
Together, the cross-cutting themes and research areas (or pillars) of APPRISE provide a flexible and coordinated national research network.
The cross-cutting themes create skills and technologies and provide for the future of Australia’s response with a skilled workforce and national and international networks.
Examples of skills, infrastructure and tools include:
- Ethics – provide pre-established ethics approvals for urgent research, research ethical barriers to policy changes
- Data management – improve urgent data collection and use during infection emergencies, develop systems and processes to promote data sharing
- Education and training –promote development of our future infectious diseases research workforce, including establishment of an Early Career Researcher (ECR) program
- Partnerships, collaboration and translation – ensure engagement and dialogue with relevant key stakeholders nationally and internationally, disseminate and translate our research findings.
