APPRISE end-of-year wrap-up – December 2017

December 20, 2017

Professor Sharon Lewin opens the 2017 APPRISE Annual Meeting

With our first 18 months of operation almost behind us, we would like to thank all our partners, stakeholders and supporters and wish everyone a successful 2018.

APPRISE is gearing up for a busy program of collaborative research and capacity building in 2018, after a comprehensive consultation and research prioritisation period.

Here are some our highlights so far:

  • The APPRISE stakeholder consultation was completed to ensure Australia is equipped for a more coordinated, effective and evidence-based response to infectious disease outbreaks. Read the APPRISE Stakeholder Consultation Report
  • Two articles were published in the academic literature, one in the Medical Journal of Australia and the other in Communicable Diseases Intelligence.
  • The inaugural APPRISE Annual Meeting was held in August at the University of Sydney – face-to-face meeting of researchers and some key stakeholders to discuss the background and potential of APPRISE research areas.
  • APPRISE Secretariat positions were filled with Drs Miranda Smith, Gillian Scott and Julie Milland appointed as Project Officer, Education Officer and Communication Officer, respectively.
